John's Tree
The Titteringtons of Northern Ireland
The Descendants of Trevor
Wb4 & Wb4(i) Tree for Trevor b.c. 1692
James had six sons – namely, James, Thomas, Trevor, John, Whitfield and Henry. Trevor b. 1692 was responsible for the issue of several branches from whom several of our Researchers are descended, whilst James b.c. 1690 was responsible for one and Whitfield b. 1694 was responsible for two branches. This is the first use of Trevor or Traver(s) in the Titterington Tree in Northern Ireland at this time, although it was evident in England
The dates of birth for these siblings are speculative . James is placed as the eldest brother in view of the fact that James was used as a family name in the Titterington family. Trevor’s (b.1692) brother James left a will in 1750 in which he names Whitfield as Overseer to the wishes of the will.
A record exists for a lease of 1715 for a property in Moira Street, Hillsborough under the name of Trevor Titterington. This would probably be Trevor b.c. 1692.
The children of James born 1712 were all born in the town land of Ballyknock.
Wb5 Tree for Trevor b. 1737 and Mary Davis
We believe that Trevor and Mary Davis of Ballyknock had four children – Trevor b. 1773 who married Emily Henderson, John b. 1777 who married Mary Cherry, James who married Margaret Cherry and Whitfield.

Trevor and Emily generate the tree of Karen whose ancestor was their son William, b. 1809. His brother John, who married Alice, generated Bob’s tree.

Trevor and Mary’s son James had one child – James b. 1796 who married Mary Gilligan. Dianne and Trayce’s branches are descended from James and Mary Gilligan.
Wb6 Tree for Trevor b. 1773 and Emily Henderson
Trevor Titterington b. 1773 in Ballyknock is at the top of the tree. He was married to Emily Henderson. Ros Davies records that in 1836, Trevor Titterington of Hillsborough, Dromatihue made a Charity subscription. It is likely that this refers to Trevor b. 1773. However, Trevor Titterington is recorded as a Freeholder, Tenement possilbly from 1769 or 1781. This fact should more likely be attributed to his father, Trevor b. 1737 spouse of Mary Davis.
Karen has found that Roots Ireland records the marriage of William, son of Trevor Titterington, a Weaver and Widower, married Jane Murdoc/gh on 11 Feb, 1855. He was of full age. IGI records that in August 1859, William aged 40, son of Trevor Titterington married Mary Connolly.
Trevor’s second son James has caused the researchers considerable discussion and further research. It has been a challenge to determine, as far as we are able, to whom he was married and his descendants. IGI records that James Titterington, aged 41, and son of Trevor Titterington, married Ruth Preston in February 1856, suggesting a date of birth in 1815 but there is some evidence that James, child of Trevor Titterington and Emily Henderson was actually baptised on 4 August, 1811 in Hillsborough. However, a previous marriage to Mary Agnew gave him two children, Anne Jane (b. 1838) and Mary Anne (b. 1843). Evidence would seem to demonstrate that Anne Jane married James Gregg and that Mary Anne had two marriages, each Presbyterian, firstly to George Beamish in the Presbyterian Linen Hall in Belfast, 1865 and the second to James Mairs in the Presbyterian Remonstruant Meeting House in Moira. It was from this second marriage that Mary’s two daughters, Letitia in 1872, and Anne Jane in 1875 were born.
PRONI records that on 6 Feb, 1814, George, the child of Trevor Titterington and Emily Henderson was baptised.
In her research Kay has recorded that Margaret Titterington, daughter of Trevor Titterington and Amelia Henderson, was baptised on 25 April, 1819 in Hillsborough.
In the Hillsborough Parish records, John is recorded as being baptised at 3 days old on 5th March 1822 as the son of Trevor Titterington and Emily Henderson. Researchers believe that Bob’s family tree is descended from this John.
IGI records that on 7 June, 1900 Thomas aged 74, carpenter, died in Manhattan, New York. He was born in Ireland and the son of Trevor Titterington and Emily.
