James Edward Titterington (1917-1977) (Chart Wa7)

James joined the RAF probably in 1937 shortly after the death of his father.  His mother recorded in the family Bible that in 1938 he sailed for Egypt.  

​

James was trained at RAF Cranwell.  As well as Egypt, he served in Nairobi in 1939, Khartoum and various other places in the Sudan in 1940 and 1941, Suez, Uganda,  Libya, Malta and Aboukir.

​

He was a Corporal in the Signals Unit and he met his wife to be, Muriel Lyons when she was posted to his unit in 1944.  Muriel was included in the first group of 21 year old women to be called up for service in 1943.

SAMUEL MCCREARY (Chart Wb12 ii)

​

Samuel was the great  grandson to Richard Titterington and Betty Ann McCorry through their daughter Mary Titterington who married James Gibson.  He was the youngest brother to Richard McCreery.
