Argyle Obituary
DAVIS W TITTERINGTON
​
The death of Davis W Titterington occurred Friday, January 13, at the Glens Falls hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Potter Funeral home, Glens Falls, with the Rev. David L. H. Carlisle, pastor of the Argyle United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment was in Pine View Cemetery.

A former resident of Glens Falls was employed by Hub Supply Company, retiring in 1953. He was a 50-year member of the Glens Falls Lodge 121, F. & A.M.
Surviving are his wife Etta; a daughter Mrs. Coolidge Copeland of Argyle; a nephew, Walter J. of Bordentown, N.J., four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Contributions in memory of Mr. Titterington may be made to the Argyle Emergency Squad.

OBITUARY
Mrs. Sarah Titterington
Mrs. Sarah Titterington, aged eighty-four years, died at an early hour Monday morning at her home on Main Street. Funeral services were held at the home this afternoon at two o’clock. Rev. Mr. Murray, rector of the Episcopal Church at Schuylerville, officiated. Interment was in the Greenwich Cemetery.

Mrs. Titterington was a native Ireland, having been born in Kings County in 1837. She came to this country in 1890 and had been a highly respected resident of this village since that time. She was a faithful member of the Episcopal Church, a loving mother and a good neighbor, and she will be greatly missed by those who knew her. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Eliza Couser, Sarah Davis and Mrs. Mary Couser, also by six grand-children and eight great grandchildren.

Henrietta Swartz Titterington
Henrietta Swartz, wife of D. Wilson Titterington, aged thirty-two years, died early Saturday morning at her home, 19 Gold Street, after an illness of two years. She was born in Albany and came to this city nine months ago. She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church of this city.

Besides her husband she is survived by one son, F. Davis Titterington; her mother Mrs. Martha L. Swartz of Albany; two brothers, Frederick and Lewis II Swartz of Albany. A prayer service was held at the home Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Charles George Bikle, after which the remains were taken to the home of her mother, 439 Hamilton Street in Albany, where the funeral will be held this afternoon. Interment will be made in the Rural Cemetery, Albany.

Obituary
William Titterington, aged 65, died today at his home on Eddy Street. Mr. Titterington was born in County Downs, Ireland and came to this country when a young man. He had made his home in this village for many years. His survivors are his wife, Anna; and three sisters Mary, Margaret and Elizabeth Couser.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the late home on Eddy Street. Burial will be In Greenwich Cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah Titterington Davis
Mrs. Sarah Titterington Davis died yesterday morning at her home on Bleeker Street after a prolonged illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the home of her nephew, Walter J. Couser, on Bleeker Street, and at 3 o’clock at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, of which Mrs. Davis had been a faithful member for many years. The rector, Rev. F. L. Bradley, will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenwich Cemetery. Friends may call at the Couser home before the service.
Sarah Titterington was born in Gilford, Ireland, in September 1875, a daughter of Capt. John and Sarah Wilson Titterington. After the captain’s death while their children were young, Mrs. Titterington brought them to Greenwich to make their home. For some years, Mrs. Davis was employed and had been a valued employee of the Manhattan Shirt Company.

Mrs. Davis merited the esteem in which she was held by many acquaintances and the admiration of her numerous friends. Survivors are three nephews and a niece; Walter J Couser of Greenwich, D.W. Titterington of Glens Falls, S.J. Titterington of Schenectady, and Mrs. Edward Nelson of Gloucester, N.J.

Rite for Mrs. Titterington Held in Illinois
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha N Whitaker Titterington 47, of Bensenville, Illinois, a former resident of Schenectady who died fast Wednesday in Bensenville, were held there.
Mrs. Titterington was born in Schenectady and attended schools here. She had lived at Round Lake 10 years and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Round Lake. Prior to moving to Bensenville, Mrs. Titterington had lived in Burlington, Vermont.
Survivors include her husband, Walter J Titterington; two sons, Walter J Titterington Jr. of Hightstown, N. J. and John Allen Titterington of Burlington Vermont; a daughter, Miss Robin Titterington of Bensenville; Her mother, Mrs. Helen Whitaker of Schenectady; two brothers, Donald E Whitaker Jr. of Schenectady and Kendall R Whitaker of Englewood, California; two sisters, Mrs. John McGivern of Mechanicville and Mrs. Charles Watson of Schenectady. Two grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. William G. Janssen
Mrs. Muriel M. Janssen, 36 MacArthur Drive, died Saturday night in Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness. She was a chamber member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
Survivors are her husband, William G Janssen; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Titterington of South Glens Falls; a son, William G Janssen of Glens Falls; a sister, Mrs. Irene Harrison of Jersey City, N.J.; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Sullivan and Minahan Funeral Home 67 Park Street from 7 to 8 tonight. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
A private funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at the convenience of the family.

Greenwich Obituaries
WALTER J. TITTERINGTON SR.
Word has been received of the recent death of Walter J Titterington Sr., 61of Bordentown, N.J., after a short illness. He was the son of the late Samuel J Titterington, a former resident of Greenwich and cousin of the late Walter J Couser Sr.
Mr. Titterington had been employed by General Electric for many years and was a veteran of World War 2. His twin brother John was killed at Saipan in that war.
Surviving, are his wife, two sons, Walter and John; a daughter, Robin, and five grand-children.

Samuel Titterington, Ex-Resident Dies
The Office for the Burial of the Dead will be read at 2 pm today at Baxter’s Funeral Home for Samuel Titterington, 78, formerly of Schenectady, who died Friday.
Born in Peterson, N.J., Mr. Titterington had lived in Greenwich before moving to Schenectady 18 years ago. He had been employed at Ellis Hospital as an electrical engineer for 16 years until his retirement in 1961. He was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church and Corlaer Lodge 932 F & AM.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Gladys Letts Titterington; a son, Walter J Titterington of Chicago, and a brother, Davis W. Titterington of Saratoga Springs. Three grandchildren also survive.
