RICHARD TITTERINGTONS

NOTE **         In the A4 tree, John T b. c. 1767 and spouse of Mary Megarry, Eliza Titterington marries Robert Stanfield in 1849.  Her father was John T, farmer born c. 1767.   Alexander T (her brother?) and James Stanfield are witnesses.  (Alexander T was a brother of John T of Corcreeny). Richard appoints Robert Stanfield and Andrew Stanfield as executors.  Richard seems to be too young to be a brother to Eliza who was born c. 1806 and he is not mentioned in her brother’s will i.e.  John Titterington of Corcreeny.

TREVOR TITTERINGTONS

From my research, it seems to me that  I have found evidence for three different Trevors.

A.             The first Trevor was born about 1790 and husband to Emily Henderson.

B.             The second Trevor was born in 1812 and the child of John Titterington and Elizabeth McClure.  He married Sarah Catney. (See Chart Wb12 i)

C.             The third Trevor was the son of Whitefield/Whitfield and married Alice Mackey in 1853.

Trevor A

2.             Trevor Titterington is recorded as a Freeholder, Tenement possilbly from 1769 or 1781 – needs more research

3.             PRONI records that on 6 Feb,  1814, George, the child of Trevor Titterington and Emily Henderson is baptised.

4.             Emerald Ancestors records that James, child of Trevor Titterington and Emily Henderson  is baptised on 4 August, 1811 in Hillsborough

5.             Chris? Records that Margaret Titterington, daughter of Trevor Titterington and Amelia Henderson, was baptised on 25 April, 1819 in Hillsborough.

6.             Family Search records (in 2014) that Trevor Titterington is the father of the groom in the following marriages: -

a.   James Titterington b. 1815  to Ruth Preston on 20 February, 1856 in Lisburn.

b.   William Titterington, b. 1819 to Mary Connolly on 30 August, 1859 in Lurgan, Armagh.

c.  Roots Ireland (from Karen) records the marriage of William, son of Trevor Titterington, a Weaver and Widower, married Jane Murdoc/gh on 11 Feb, 1855.  He was of full age, and therefore is too old to be the son of Trevor B.  I have no idea who might have been his first wife, and if he is the son of Trevor A, then Mary Connolly was presumably his third wife!

Trevor B

7.             Trevor TITTERINGTON was born about 1812.  He was the son of John Titterington and Elizabeth McClure.  He married Sarah Catney.  Their youngest child was Mary Anne, but she was not born until 1850 – too late for this marriage.

8.             Ros Davies records: of Dromatihue; a butcher ; married Sarah Catney of Moira 23 Jan 1836 at Hillsborough Church of Ireland; father of William John bapt. 7 Jan 1838 & Thomas bapt. 8 Dec 1839 then of Ballykeel-Artifinney, a butcher & weaver, David b. 31 Dec 1841 & bapt. 2 Jan 1842 when of Reillys Trench, Elizabeth bapt. 10 Dec 1843 ; of Dromore, Richard b. 29 Nov 1845 & bapt. 22 Feb 1846 & of Lisadian, Sarah Jane b. 4 Nov & bapt. 5 Nov 1848 & Mary Anne b. 6 Aug & bapt. 15 Sep 1850 at Hillsborough Church of Ireland
