John's Tree
The Titteringtons of Northern Ireland
Wb13 Robert Titterington b. 1777 of Lurganville
Researchers: The work on this tree has been compiled by Glenn, William, Bev Alan and Kay.
This tree mainly centres around Robert b. 1777 and his wife Margaret. The supposition is that Robert is the son of Richard b. 1740 and Mary Morrow, and is primarily based on the use of the naming theory. His four siblings are based on evidence of baptism records. Robert’s sibling John is considered to be the ancestor for Lee’s tree and Lesley's. His sibling Richard, is considered to be the ancestor for Nicole's tree.
There has been much discussion about Burrows. Evidence for the birth of Burrows b. 1784 is sourced from baptismal records, but the baptism for William Burrowes b. 1801 records him in Rothley, Leics. It seems most likely that he was the son of Robert 1777 and the father of Mary Ann, George, Robert and Burrows. Alan C suggests that the probable reason for William’s family being in Leicestershire at the time of his birth may well have been due to employment and the explosion of the Cotton Mills in the UK at that time – a migration from Agricultural Labouring to Industrial work.

William Burrowes is believed to be father of George who married Margaret Lavery and their descendants exist today.
Two of Robert's descendants, Robert b. 1843 and Maria Heslim born 1852, married. Maria was a descendant of William Burrowes and Robert was the son of Richard born 1809. This marriage provides the gateway for the descendant tree of William.
Robert's (born 1843) siblings, Thomas Henry and Mary Ann were each responsible for the trees for Bev and Glenn.
DNA testing has proved a link between William’s tree and Lee’s tree.
Some of the members of this tree emigrate to America.
Locations in Ireland mentioned in this tree include Lurganville, Moira, Hillsboro, Bottier, Lisburn and Cherry Valley Farm.
Surnames that appear include Walsh, Haslem, Lilburn, Dillon, Walker, Wilkinson, Law and Haddock.
Wb14 George Titterington of Lurganville, b. c. 1821
Researcher: Kerry
This tree was mainly compiled by Kerry. It has just under 40 people over five generations.
The head of the tree is George Titterington, b. 1821. His wife was Margaret Lavery.

The Valuations record a George Titterington and Cherry Valley Farm appears in the vicinity. If George can be linked to this Farm it would suggest a link to William and Glenn's branches.

George and Margaret probably had nine children six of whom we know were born in Moira. Their first son, George became a Police Constable and he and his family resided in Bexley Heath, UK.

Their second son was probably William who was a Moravian Minister and he trained in Pudsey, Yorkshire, spending much of his life, married to Sarah and living in Dukinfield. He died in Ashton Lancashire.

Their third son, James Titterington, a Moravian, was married to Annabella Armstrong who was deaf and dumb. It is from James and Annabella aka Isabella, that Kerry's branch descends. Some of James's descendants remain in the Hillsborough area, but others live in Dublin and Clearwater, Florida. Annabella Armstrong was the daughter of William Armstrong, and grand daughter of Christoper Armstrong and Mary Titterington b. c. 1800.

Their third son was Richard. Records from the Royal Navy tell us that Richard was 5'3" tall, had brown hair, grey eyes and a dark complexion. He had a Very Good character and served on the 'Impregnable'. He moved to Scotland, where his daughter Jessie was born and later lived in Toxteth Park, Lancashire.
Some of the residential locations found in the tree include Moira, Hillsborough and Glasgow.
Some of the other family names in this tree include Armstrong, Scandrett and Heenan.
